After graduating from the Civil Engineering Department of Bosphorus University, Ansal received her master’s degree in Soil Mechanics of Civil Engineering from Northwestern University and worked as a civil engineer for five years in the USA. She received her PhD in “Science, Technology and Industrialization” Program at “Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU)” of Sussex University. After working at Technology Programme in UNCTAD, Geneva, she joined the Management Faculty of Istanbul Technical University until 2005 when she transferred to Işık University to establish the Humanities and Social Sciences Department. Her academic works involve Management of Technology and Innovation, Flexible Production Organization Systems, Fordist and Post Fordist Production, Effects of New Technologies on Women’s Employment, New Technology Impact on Economies of Scale, and Socio-Economic Implications of Industry 4.0.

Boğaziçi Üniversitesi İnşaat Mühendisliğindeki lisans eğitiminden sonra ABD’de Northwestern Üniversitesi’nde master yapmış, beş yıl ABD’de Zemin Mekaniği alanında mühendis olarak çalışmıştır. İngiliz Kültür Heyeti bursu ile gittiği İngiltere’de doktorasını Sussex Üniversitesinde “Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU)” in “Bilim, Teknoloji ve Sanayileşme” programında tamamlamıştır. Cenevre’de UNCTAD’da Teknoloji Programı Bölümünde çalıştıktan sonra İTÜ İşletme Fakültesi’ne girmiş, İktisat Anabilim Dalı Başkanı, Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü’nde Müdür Yardımcısı gibi idari görevlerin yanı sıra “Bilim, Teknoloji ve Toplum” yüksek lisans programını açmıştır. 2005 yılında Işık Üniversitesi’ne geçerek “İnsan ve Toplum Bilimleri” bölümünü kurmuştur. Teknoloji ve İnovasyon Yönetimi, Esnek Üretim Organizasyon Biçimleri, Yeni Teknolojilerin Ölçek Ekonomisine Etkileri, Fordist ve Post Fordist Üretim, Yeni Teknolojilerin Kadın İstihdamına ve Çalışma Hayatına Etkileri gibi konularda çok sayıda ulusal ve uluslararası yayını bulunmaktadır.
